Te voy a compartir mi experiencia.

October 22, 2017 (one month after Hurricane Maria) Am finally in peace. I finally came to terms with the fact that someone is withholding the recovery of Puerto Rico. Why? Don't know. Probably financial gain. Maybe trying to get access to our assets. They have their reasons. Eventually, they are gonna have to pay for whatever damage they do. What they do is on their karma. God will take care of it (maybe). I've been draining my head trying to find the way out. I've been trying to get a hold of the people in charge. Have been assuming good faith from everyone who is involved. Now am realizing that they know. They have always known. Puerto Rico is still in crisis because somebody wants it that way. Am on longer trying to figure out why is the help not getting to the needy (even when the US government and other entities have been investing so many resources). Am no longer trying to figure out why 90% of the island have no electricity a month after the second storm hit us. Am no longer trying to figure out why our telecommunications network is still not functional. Why are the shelves still empty. Why most of the businesses, restaurants, stores, banks, government offices, etc are still closed. Why people are still unemployed because employees are still unable to operate. We are still in crisis. We have not started the recovery stage. Puerto Ricans are very resilient, hard-working people who get things done on critical situations. A lot of people are working hard to get things done. Yet, something or someone is holding us down. I worked on the recovery of Houston (Harley), Florida (Irma) and Puerto Rico (Maria). FEMA was extremely efficient dealing with Texas and Florida. When we got to Puerto Rico (almost 3 weeks late) they changed to parameters. Now everything needs to be done very slowly and bureaucratic. People will not get their money until all the new, unnecessary steps (bureaucracy) have been done. It has been very frustrating to work that way. My program seems to be representative of how the different government's recovery efforts have been implemented. A lot of work but not a lot have been achieved. What have I learned out of all of this? 1) Am not going to save the world (specially if the people in charge is opposing it). Is time to let go of that expectation. There is a lot I can do to support the people around me, but there is so much I can do. 2) I need to be ok. There is no point in spending all my energy on anger and indignation. There is a lot of work to be done and I need to be ok to do it. Things are the way they are. My focus will be in changing what can be changed, not what is out of my hands. 3) We all need a lot of self care. We have been through a lot. Is important to take time for ourselves. We need to go for a walk, meditate, play, spend time with our loved ones, workout, do yoga, etc... We need to get the strength to go through difficult moments. We deserve it. 4) If we find peace within ourselves, we can contribute peace to the world. War: Every time there is a war, a lot of innocent victims pay a price. In this case, we are the innocent victims. War is not necessarily good or bad. Is part of human nature. Is an important part of our history. If it wasn't because of all the wars that we have been going through, we world not be who we are. There is something very tricky about war. You cannot declare war against war. The best way to oppose it is to come to terms with it, and find the peace within yourself, even when we live in a violent/selfish world. Once we are in peace, we can do something about it. Am finally coming to terms with the fact that someone is not letting Puerto Rico recover from the hurricane (and our governments allowing it). I can finally focus my energy in supporting the needy.
